If you have answered YES to all of these questions then enter the   Children's Poetry Competition with the help of your teachers. All the winning poems will be published   on the Children's Poetry Bookshelf website. All winners will receive books and audiobooks as prizes.

THE COMPETITION
The topic of this year's competition is 'heroes and heroines'. Who are your heroes or heroines? Perhaps your hero or heroine is:

 

 

 

a famous person - somebody who is great at sport; a great actor or a singer; or even a great politician or a person from history.

 

 

 

a character from a book, a film, a fairy story or a cartoon.

 

 

 

somebody you know - a person in your family, or a person who helps people, like a fire fighter or a teacher.

Poems must be:

 

 

 

about the theme of heroes and heroines

 

 

 

no longer than 25 lines

 

 

 

written in English

 

 

 

your own work

Closing date is Thursday 15th October 2009.

If you want to enter the competition, please tell your teacher  first. Entries to the competition can be submitted online on the Children's Poetry Bookshelf website. Please note that an adult must do this for you.
